After 9 weeks of competition the Super Zim Cup has come to it's conclusion for this season. On a night of finals it was Old But Gold, The Whoop Whoops and Shiny Squirels that walked away with the trophies.
In the Cup competition Old But Gold held on to take their first SZ cup, despite a spirited comeback from Dan-y-graig. Mattt must have been worried when D-Y-G scored 17 unanswered points in the first 10 minutes of the 2nd half. The final score was:
Dan-y-graig 20 vs Old But Gold 35The Bowl competition also produced a great comeback, this time from Old Modernians who came back from 24 -0 at halftime, to get within 3 points at 24-21. But poor discipline (Mark- terrible ref) cost them in the end with The Whoop Whoops putting over 4 penalty goals before sealing the game in the dieing moments with a try from Ellison. The final score was:
Whoop Whoops 38 vs Old Modernians 21The Plate final was not much of a competition despite the ratings being very even in the pre match. After a slow start Sean's Squirels finally found their feet with a try in the 25th minute. Four tries later and the game was comprehensively won. The final score was:
Orangutans 7 vs Shiny Squirels 41I would like to congratulate all the winners, and say a big thank you to all the teams that took part in this seasons competition.
